Palermo facade fragments

Format approx. 60x80cm, 1cm thick

Series of images from a long-term photographic project searching for traces through the historic districts of Palermo in the 2000s. Characterized by the play with the strong contrast of light and shadow on Palermo’s facades, which is captured in their scars and holes. What is missing is replaced by the shadow and brought back to life. Filigree bars act as shape-givers.

Sequence of 12 images, each appearing like a thickly layered piece of facade that appears to be detached from the masonry and facades of the buildings.
